I am a mixed-media artist and photographer living and working in Houston, TX. I received my BFA in Studio Art from Lamar University and my MFA in Photo/Digital Media from University of Houston. I'm currently a professor of art, photography and digital media at San Jacinto College.
My work has strong ties to the metaphysical and the poetic. It stems from personal narratives that are veiled by my background and interest in theatre, literature, and science. Some of the themes that arise in my work include: memory, the body as a vehicle for transformation, loss, pleasure, and pain, as well as the power of myth and magic as a means to interpreting narratives. The idea of ritual is also related to the subject matter of the work, mostly relating to the psychology associated with ritual and its power over people’s perceived transformations. I’m interested in common human experiences exaggerated to the level of myth.
